In the final squad of the Brunswick Ballmaster Open two qualifying scores for the final were seen. Those were made by Adam Andersson of Sweden and Tali’s own boy Nooa Vilokkinen.
Adam Andersson has played a tight tournament this year and finally on his fifth attempt a place in the final opened up. Andersson played well throughout the game and after five batches he had a score of 1225 points, so it was obvious that with a 182 score he would secure a place in the final. The Swede didn’t get too excited and finished with a fine 236 series so he rose to the 12th place with a total score 1462. So that his final will start in the final step two on Sunday morning.
Andersson was relieved when the end result finally came in.
-Fortunately I finally got a result that is enough. I’ve been playing well here so it’s nice that I made it to the final,” he said.
The Ballmaster Open is a very enjoyable event for Andersson.
-This is a great tournament and you have to play well to succeed here. Tali is a great bowling alley,” said Adan.
Nooa Vilokkinen has also been on the BM lanes a lot and finally he took a place in the final. He had some tough time because in the sixth series he had to make two strikes in frame ten and he managed to do that cold-headed. Noah’s final score was 1414.
The 38 best scores from the first squad qualified for the final. The qualification was won by Luukas Väänänen with a score 1566, second was Joonas Jähi with a score 1540 and the third was Markus Lahti with a score 1523. On Sunday the top 16 will start the final and the last one to go straight ahead to Sunday’s final was Teodor Samuelsson with a score 1449.
The final cut-off for the 38th place was finally 1407, thrown by Linus Boström. A score of 1397 was required for squads 1-8, 1397 for squads 9-13 and 1403 for squads 14-16.
Desperado was bowled after the last squad. Elissa Mehmet with 284 points (hdp.8), Loick Coolen with 259 points and Killian Ecoffey with 256 points made it to the final. Ecoffey beat Chris Sloan 48-40 in the 9-10 frame replay as Sloan also shot 256 for desperado.
The final squad will start at 19:30. The qualifiers ranked 13-38 and with quota spots in the finals will bowl six batches and the top 16 will advance to Sunday’s final.
