Thursday’s first squad of the Brunswick Ballmaster Open saw a lot of foreign players. The scoring continued to be strong, with six players surpassing over the 1400 points. Antonio Fiorentino of Italy, bowled the best score, 1448. He also bowled a 300 game.
Antonio Fiorentino is a familiar sight at the Ballmaster Open from recent years. He started this years tournament yesterday by playing 1398 points. Today he improved his score by bowling 1448. His start was a little low compared to the yesterday as he started with 215. Fiorentino took the top spot in games three and four as he bowled 279 and 300. 300 being eighth perfect games of the tournament. Two last games were 225 and 192, but it was enough for a squad win.
Fiorentino says he is enjoying the Ballmaster Open.
– It’s always nice to come here to play when there’s a big tournament and lots of good players,” he said.
Antonio described the oil pattern as easy.
-“At the beginning you get a big score and even though the score is high, it’s harder at the end” he analysed.
Kert Truus was second with 1443. Truus was able to attempt a 300-point games in the third games, but his last shot failed and he was left with pins 6 and 10. Also playing over 1400 were Mike Bergmann, Jarno Lahti, William Svensson and Marc Jacobs.
On Thursday, the second squad will be played starting at 18:00.
