Squad 5: Markus Lahti 1523!!!

In Sunday’s first squad there were 39 bowlers that participated in the tournament. Also Kai Virtanen who won the tournament in 1995 was playing in this squad.

The competition got a new top score when 18-year-old Markus Lahti scored over 1500 points. His score was 1523. Lahti’s game was stunning to watch, He scored over 270 points four times.

He also managed to try to reach 300 game twice but at both times there was one pin left standing.

Lahti managed to score a result that qualified him for the finals in the third set he played.
-Now I was able to make changes faster and better so that’s the reason for the improvement.

He played almost the entire game with the Purple Hammer.
-Purple went well at the beginning but in the third game I tried with another ball and this time it was a mistake. It would have been better to just start throwing longer as I did in the last three sets, Make continued.

Markus will reach the final of the BM-Open for the first time in his career.
-It’s a big deal. In this tournament I already give great value to a place in the final. I hope my father will also play, then I can say I beat him, Markus laughed.

Markus’ father Mika Lahti won the tournament in 2005.

In the same squad with Lahti, Kert Truus was the second with a score of 1429. Nowadays Kert is also working as a coach in his homeland Estonia.

The fifth squad was also the second special set for young bowlers and prizes were given to the top three. The best was naturally Lahti who bowled to the top of the tournament. Santtu Nieminen came in second with a score of 1395 which qualified him for the tournament in the re-entry and Kaisa-Ly Lee came in third with a score of 1390. She received a Desperado gift card but she probably already has a place in the finals, so the gift card will probably remain unused.
