The first round of the A-final was bowled on Saturday evening, with 9 players from the B-final and bowlers ranked 15-41 in the qualifying.The format was best-of-five matches.
Emma Palermaa knocked out PBA legend Robert Smith with a clean 3-0 win. In the first game, Emma needed a spot in the ten-square box from the 1, 2 ,8, 10 patterns and in the second game, she knocked out the ten with an extra throw. She did both. In the third game, she took the win more easily and that way she ended Smith’s tournament.
Palermaa admitted that she was nervous before the game to face Smith.
– It was exciting and also nice to play against him.
Palermaa played the entire match with urethane ball and moved to the middle as the game progressed.
– I logically moved the line up when the oil got to the stern, he analyzed.

In addition to Palermaa, 17 other players made it to the second round on Sunday to play against the top 14 in the qualifiers. Tim Stampe, Ossian Kunnari, Sanna Oksanen, Carl Eklund, Megan Dicay, Pontus Fälkhäll, Roni Leskinen, Elissa Mehmet, Kert Truus, Petteri Salonen, Lucas Heijel, Alex Joki, Markus Lahti, Nicolas Carter, Joonas Jehkinen, Juho Rissanen and Aatu Tapanimäki continued to bowl.
The second round starts on Sunday at 10 am.
