18 year old Juho Vuoppola from Oulu was the best in Friday’s second squad with a score of 1332. Despite the famous players, the set was relatively modest in terms of scores.
Juho Vuoppola’s game didn’t start too well, as the scores in first and second sets were 168 and 179. After this, he got the hang of it and scored 235 and 214. In the last two games, Vuoppola got a real rally action going and he scored 280 and 256. He is currently ranked 21st in the qualifiers, so he is close to reaching the A-final. After Vuoppola next was Sweden’s Kevin Melin 1330 and his fellow countryman Ossian Kinnari came third with a score of 1302.
Vuoppola wasn’t too loud about his good result.
– The beginning was absolutely terrible and I couldn’t get anything done. Luckily in the third set I figured out a way to throw and it carried me until the end.
Juho started his game with urethane but then continued with a reactive ball.
– I should have started with the reactive right away. In these conditions it works so much better for me than urethane.
Vuoppola thinks that the oil pattern is good.
– It is suitably challenging. Especially the ball speed must be right to get the pins moving.
Juho will be seen again on the lanes Saturday morning.

The next round starts at 6 pm. The 250-extra and NO250-extra finals will be played immediately after the squad ends.
