The first 300-point game of the tournament was seen in Friday morning’s squad. The tournament leader Pyry Puharinen bowled a perfect score in his first game and he took home the 1000€ 300-extra prize.
However, the squad win was bowled by Denmark’s Carsten Hansen. He bowled a 1400 score in his second performance. This will be enough for the final. Hansen had three very good games and that helped him to score enough for the finals.. He bowled 268 in the opening set. In the third set he was able to try 300, but pins 6, 7 and 10 remained standing. He bowled 230 in his last game which secured the squad win.
Hansen didn’t celebrate the set win too much.
– It’s great that I got the result but it was possible to earn 40 points more. That would have been enough for the top 14.
During his game Carsten made a lot of changes to his game idea.
– I started with urethane and played a fairly straight line. Then I switched to reactive and moved significantly to the left, he said.
Even though the result came, he still believes he will throw again in the qualifiers.
– I will probably play again tomorrow.

Pyry Puharinen enjoyed his 300 game.
– It sure makes you smile when you make a 300 game and get 1000 euros for it.
Pyry played with the same ball that he used to get the top score in the qualifying.
– I played with the same ball and pretty much the same line, he said.

Puharinen was second in the squad with a score of 1379 and third was Robert Smith from the USA with 1345 points.
The next squad starts at 2 p.m.
