Squad 9: Jarno Lahti’s scored big in Thursday night’s squad

Jarno Lahti made his seventh performance in the IHC this year and that qualified him for the finals. Lahti bowled an impressive score of 1462 points in the evening squad.

The Tali lanes have become familiar to the reigning Ballmaster Open winner Jarno Lahti at this year’s IHC, as he made his seventh performance on Thursday night. Lahti’s game was in control throughout the squad. He started with games of 233, 244 and 236. In the fourth game, Jarno was able to attempt a 300 game, but his last throw failed and pins 4, 6 and 10 remained up. However, at the moment 297 is the highest score in the tournament, so Lahti is tied to the 300-extra win. In the fifth game Lahti was in trouble, but he managed to save the game with a final score of 209. Jarno’s game was back on track in the sixth game and the final set of 243 helped him to get a total of 1462 points. That brought him second place in the qualifiers.

Lahti was relieved when the result finally came.

– The result finally came and of course I feel good now.

On Thursday Jarno played two games and his faith was starting to run out at times.

– I have rarely been so upset as after the first set on Thursday. In this set, I managed to get the result with the power of anger. I shut everything else out and closed myself off in my own bubble, he said.

Lahti will not be playing in the qualifiers anymore, but the native of Tampere will stay in Helsinki for the rest of the week.

– I will stay here, then there is no need to drive back and forth, he said.

The second in the set was Denmark’s Christine Hansen, with a score of 1396. The third was Emanuel Jonsson with a score of 1369.

Qualification will continue on Friday with three sets, the first of which starts at 10 am.
